Talking Progressive Women in Politics With Royce Brooks

By Kimberley Jones, February 28, 2020, 3:30pm, Newsdesk

In our last show before Super Tuesday, we’re talking around the election, but not explicitly about it, with a conversation with Annie’s List Executive Director Royce Brooks.

Brooks talks about the mission of Annie’s List, an organization dedicated to getting women elected to office who support progressive values like reproductive choice and equal pay, and explains what kind of resources and training they provide women thinking about running.

In the second half of our program, Chronicle staff writer Kevin Curtin previews the upcoming Austin Music Awards, which are going down March 11 at ACL Live at the Moody (tickets here). The bulk of the prize winners won’t be announced until the big show, but we do know the recipients of two legacy awards... well, I'll let Kevin do the talking.

One more note: If the show feels a bit brisk this week – you're not imagining things. The KOOP Spring Membership Drive is underway, and we ceded some of our show runtime today to the good folks at KOOP so they could talk about the drive. If you like what we've been doing on the show, or you just want to support a terrific station and the important role it plays in the Austin community, donate!
